Position Overview
We are currently seeking a caring and dependable Cantonese or Tagalog-speaking Caregiver/Health Care Aide to support a client living with advanced dementia.
Position Summary
We are looking for a compassionate caregiver who is fluent in Cantonese or Tagalog to provide one-on-one in-home care for a client with later-stage dementia. The successful candidate will have patience, empathy, and experience supporting individuals with cognitive impairment, including sundowning and wandering behaviours. Experience working with dementia clients is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care while maintaining the client's dignity and privacy.
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and bathroom hygiene.
- Support safe mobility and transfers as required.
- Provide supervision to ensure client safety, particularly during periods of confusion, wandering, or sundowning.
- Prepare light meals and assist with feeding if required.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including:
- Laundry
- Making the bed
- Tidying the client's living areas
- Kitchen clean-up
- Provide companionship and engage the client in meaningful conversation and activities appropriate to their abilities.
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition to the Care Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate visit documentation.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Cantonese or Tagalog(required).
- Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous experience caring for individuals with dementia is strongly preferred.
- Experience providing personal care in a home care, long-term care, or assisted living setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient.
- Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification is an asset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Available ShiftsThis is a casual position with a combination of weekday and weekend shifts.Typical shift options include:
- 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Split shifts may also be available, including:
- 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
