Position Overview

We are currently seeking a caring and dependable Cantonese or Tagalog-speaking Caregiver/Health Care Aide to support a client living with advanced dementia.

Position Summary

We are looking for a compassionate caregiver who is fluent in Cantonese or Tagalog to provide one-on-one in-home care for a client with later-stage dementia. The successful candidate will have patience, empathy, and experience supporting individuals with cognitive impairment, including sundowning and wandering behaviours. Experience working with dementia clients is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care while maintaining the client's dignity and privacy.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and bathroom hygiene.
• Support safe mobility and transfers as required.
• Provide supervision to ensure client safety, particularly during periods of confusion, wandering, or sundowning.
• Prepare light meals and assist with feeding if required.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including:
• Laundry
• Making the bed
• Tidying the client's living areas
• Kitchen clean-up
• Provide companionship and engage the client in meaningful conversation and activities appropriate to their abilities.
• Observe and report changes in the client's condition to the Care Coordinator.
• Maintain accurate visit documentation.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Cantonese or Tagalog(required).
• Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous experience caring for individuals with dementia is strongly preferred.
• Experience providing personal care in a home care, long-term care, or assisted living setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient.
• Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (or willingness to obtain one).
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification is an asset.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Available ShiftsThis is a casual position with a combination of weekday and weekend shifts.Typical shift options include:

• 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM
• 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Split shifts may also be available, including:

• 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
